Newtownabbey PCSP High Risk Youth Project

NI Youth Forum is currently working alongside Newtownabbey PCSP on the delivery of a Detached Youth Project.

It is a relatively new project, which will run for 18 months. A team of detached youth workers will be deployed to work in 8 communities across Newtownabbey. They will make contact with marginalised young people in their own environment who are not engaged in mainstream provision.

Young people will be supported in taking action to meet their needs and goals by encouraging participation in tailored personal and social development programmes.

As a result of the Project young people will be less likely to engage or become involved in anti-social behaviour and criminality. They will have improved relationships at a local level and will have developed skills in leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills.

The areas currently being worked in are New Mossley, Glengormley, Burnside, Bawnmore, Longlands and Monkstown.
