Paddy Kane Shows Kids Stand a Chance

Youth Forum member Paddy Kane achieves an Example of Excellence commendation at the BT Seen and Heard Awards 2009, which awards young people for their outstanding contribution to their community. An Example of Excellence is a runner-up project which really stood out to the young judges as an example of being Seen and Heard by their peers. Paddy co-ordinated the Kids Don’t Stand A Chance events over the summer all across Northern Ireland. These events allowed people under 18 to go to live music events and enjoy local talent with people their own age without the worries of being checked for ID as Paddy commented –

‘I 'm ecstatic at winning this award on behalf of our Kids Don't Stand A Chance campaign. Not only does national recognition reflect the huge amount of work the Northern Ireland Youth Forum have put into the gigs but it also helps spread our message that young people need safe spaces and all ages gigs within Northern Ireland.’Northern Ireland Youth Forum is proud of what Paddy has achieved and hope that through his example of dedication and drive can encourage more young people to host more under 18 events in their local towns and clubs.
